Alphonse Mucha, a Czech painter, became famous in Paris because of his poster Gismonda of actress Sarah Bernard. He worked for her made him an outstanding exponent of the French Art Nouveau.
In this tour:
- You will learn about Mucha’s life and art journey abroad (Vienna, Munich, Paris, New York, Prague)
- On the way, we will admire the Art Nouveau decorative style, Cubism and Rondo-cubism in the area of the New Town.
- You will see elegant cafés and hotels that were visited by the first elite of that era profiting from the industrialisation of the 19th and 20th centuries.
- We will stop for coffee at the only cubism café in Prague.
- We will see Mucha’s work in the Municipal house.
- You will explore the Epoque when the sophisticated modernisation came hand in hand with the resurrection of the national identity and birth of the first Czechoslovak Republic.
